Before returning to Mercer to earn his Juris Doctor degree from the Walter F. George School of Law, Mr. Gómez served with the Peace Corp in Honduras.
A Lakewood High graduate, Mr. Gómez grew up in the Tampa Bay area and returned after completing law school. Mr. Gómez worked as an associate attorney for local boutique law firms then opened his own law office in 2000, specializing in criminal defense and personal injury law.
Mr. Gómez has served locally on the City of St. Petersburg Charter Review Commission, as Board chair of ASAP for Suncoast Hospice, and as a fundraising supporter in numerous judicial races, political campaigns, as well as charitable and religiously oriented organizations. Mr. Gómez is also active in representing varied groups including the LGBT, Latin, West-Indian, and minority communities statewide. In addition, Mr. Gómez is well-traveled with over 40 countries thus far discovered.
